Last night I had a bit of a power painting session and also
finished my Mierce Minatures Darklands Anglecynn Guthwulf. Lovely model, with incredible
detail, the resin is certainly not finecast and is actually quite hard so you
can file it down and tweak it without fear of slicing straight through the
model. I had to fill a few gaps and cut out some of the injection points inside
the fitting locations but I would much rather this than having to do it on a visible
surface. There were a few mould lines but also easily fixed with a small file.
It is definitely a more complex model in terms of tidy up than GW plastic kits
but that is to be expected. (some pics below of the tools I used and stage by stage pics of the build and bare resin.)
You can get the model here btw: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php?act=pro&pre=mrm_dkl_ang_mrc_mbs_501_000
In all honesty though this is not a terrible thing,
Darklands doesn’t appear to be a large scale game (30 models seems a very big
game) so spending a bit of love and attention building your models gains you
more bang for your buck.
Painting wise this was pretty straight forward. I wanted the
Guthwulf (until I get a Maegenwulf) to be my pack leader and as such I wanted
his colourings to stand out so went with a white wolf fur theme. Really quick
to do, spray grey, dry brush light grey, dry brush white, pick out some
recesses with black or brown wash, done! Basing was pretty standard for me (I
need to mix things up!) and the metals/blue were really quick and easy. The
blood is just GW technical paint Blood for the Blood God! I might go back and
add tribal tattoos once I understand the story behind Darklands more.
Anyway let me know what you think guys, I’m looking forward
to painting up the rest of my Anglecynn force once it arrives later in the year
and the start of 2016 (kickstarter models). The guys up here are super pumped
for it atm and can’t wait to start playing!
This looks amazing, the detail and brush work magnificent . Would you ever want to sell this model?
