A Thousand Ideas and No motivation.

I've not been very productive of late when it comes to the hobby. I seem to have spurts of motivation where I will paint for a few days on something then weeks can go by where I don't pick up a brush.

My brain however never stops thinking up new ideas that would be really cool/fun/expensive to do. I think one of my main problems is I have too much time to myself and instead of using that time productivity I spend it either playing video games (not a bad thing) or just procrastinating thinking I'll do some painting in a bit, then that bit never comes.

Also with 9th on the horizon, the uncertainty of it all has added my lethargy, weather what I am painting will even be usable in a few months. What I have been able to get painting before my current bout of meh started was a couple of things that were fun to paint and great models.

First was a Skaven Stormfeind.

I was hoping to get 6 of these painted for the Club Challenge in June but again lack of motivation has stifled that and I will no doubt have to borrow them along with the rest of the army lol. My Skaven army is also one such thing that has fallen by the wayside. This new one will be my 3rd army as the first was very quickly and poorly painted to get it on the table as fast as possible. The 2nd, the one I've used most started out as a painting project sadly turned into begin rushed again. Though I am happy with a lot of the conversions I did for this the paint job wasn't that great. I never even finished it as the slaves I used were from the first army. So I started this new one, a Skyre themed army based in an Empire town, but of course what has happened with the end times, will there even be any city's for this new army to be based in when 9th hits?

So now I'm struggling to find the motivation to get this done too lol. So I decided to paint something none GW and settled on this.

From Mierce Miniatures, its a Brythoniaid Gwyddol, Dyndraig of Gwaelod, don't ask me how to say it, only can just pronounce the first word. This was really fun to paint and I do love how its come out. I have a second built ready to paint but haven't quite got around to starting him strangely lol

Lastly on the painting desk at the moment is the Paint Hammer Blog Challenge model. Mine came a little late so haven't started him yet, but I got to work on the base. I've got a few extra things to go on this to make it more scenic but the focus will still be on the main guy.

I may not be able to get this guy finished in time sadly as hopefully I will be moving house in the very near future so everything will be put on hold till then. So thats everything I have started so far, but like the title says I have so many ideas I want to do but no motivation to start. Hears just a few of them.

Clock work ogre army, Had this one for a while but no idea how to pull it off, was thinking along the lines of the Golden Army from Hellboy 2.
A Catachan Imperial Guard army (it will be a cold day in hell when i call it by the new stupid name)
An Ork Speed Freak army. This was my most used army when I played 40k and was so fun using but also making all of the mad max like vehicles for the Orks to ride and blow up in.
Relic Knights. Iv got my Cerci Speed Circuit  from their kick starter just gathering dust.
Malifaux, would love to repaint my outcasts as they were again rushed for a tournament, also paint up my Seamus crew that only ever got sprayed black.

So hopefully when I am settled in my new house and I don't have as much time to procrastinate I will have more motivation to do some hobby (I realize this is very odd logic but iv got my fingers crossed it works out lol)

  1. Haha, a tiny list of projects, you'll be fine, just stop worrying about stupid things like does the skaven army fit with the new GW fluff. Every existing army out there could have paving bases, therefore it will be entirely appropriate and valid for yours to be that way too.

As for the Bythoniad thingy it's pronounced "Dwag-on", like a combination of Dragon and Swag but without the 'S'...

  3. Completely know how you feel Rob, im in the same boat. Having poured a daft number of hours into the Empire I only have 1200pts of Empire usable and the rest is a rather shameful grey plastic... I think after Caley Carnage I will be taking things a little slower for a few months, not least due to getting married!

I think im going to causally paint up my grey knights in the following few months to get a 1500-1850pts army on the table. Going to start small and paint a kill team (8 marines lol).

Also got my inquisitor scale space marine to paint which I can't wait to do (will be a treat!) so very excited to do that!

Looking forward to see what you work on next and I hope you house move goes well!

  4. Thanks, its taking ages as the sellers have split up (why there selling) and the guy is being a dick and delaying everything.

The amount of stuff I have for my skaven is silly, loads of old metal models. I just stare at them just thinking why can't you just paint yourselves already!

  6. You both need to pull yourselves together and paint an army. Start it - finish it! Focus! Don't lack discipline!
