Well here’s the first model I painted once I could get back
to the paint table! It is without a doubt my favourite model I have ever painted!
I have always wanted to paint a giant but I struggled to fit one into a list
(yes I am a filth monger!) and found a great excuse, GIANT IRONBLASTER! Now my
modelling skills aren’t quite up to the task of the green stuffing the job but
thankfully my colleague gamer and utter legend Dorian (@vigadeath) was more
that MAN enough for the task (he now has infinite man points to cash in).
So the plan with this model was to have a centre piece for
the OrcOgre army and after having painted 5 standard pattern ironblaster ( 2 commissions,
2 boar chariots and my own old Ogre one!) I wanted a change! The inspiration
from Johnny Hasting’s Ghorgon Ironblaster conversion (check his out here(incredible
painter if you haven’t heard of him!: http://www.youmagnificentbastards.com/2013/11/bull-ogre-iron-blaster.html ). So Dorian did a great job re-posing
the giant and it was joy to paint! Really can’t wait to get this guy on the
table! It was fun painting all the colours (yes I am a child) and painting
normal flesh again! Let me know what you think guys!

Cool to see some of the in progress shots on this, I wondered how much greenstuffing you'd had to do.
ReplyDeleteHey Dave,
ReplyDeleteThe conversion required a new green stuffed thigh, 2 new shoulders and a few wee handles and bits! Thankfully I had drafted in the help of Dorian (@vigadeath) as he is my Green Stuff Monkey (Er I mean skilled tradesman!).
Hit him up via twitter if you would like specifics or techniques :)
Rich
