  1. Hey man, these pics are really great. The army as a whole looks ace. There are some individual units I wanted to ask about. Tell me about the various alternative models you used for some units, and how that came to be. Necessity, theme or what?

    Great work.

  2. Hey buddy,

Thanks for the feedback :) Regarding alternative models, as a general rule I try to use the correct GW models for everything but will substitute when I dislike a model.

For example I hate the gorger models and since they are mono sculpt I wanted something more dynamic. I reasoned that the crypt horror models looks like gorgers (orges born without guts) that go insane/feral collecting bones.

Similarly I didnt like the gnoblar models so used the empire militia models to represent trappers :)

Same with sabretusks and the fenrisian wolves, much better and cheaper models!

The other factor was that I was reading the "Song of Ice and Fire" series of books (Game of thrones) so I wanted to theme my army on an army from beyond the wall of giants (ogres) and wildlings (militia/trappers). The book mentions mammoths (thundertusks/stonehorns) so there is a lot of cross over.

    Cheers again for the interest!

  3. Congratulations mate, that is an impressive array of Ogres.

Maybe you need a playing surface other than grass to more closely match all those bases?

  4. Hey mate thanks :) Yeah agreed, Problem was that I couldn't find a snow mat that would also be stretchy enough to allow it to fold :( you see i had designed and built a fold away battlefield so the game workshop battlemat was ideal as it stretches quite a bit :)

I did a wee blog post on it here:
